Bruno Fernandes’ future has been the subject of speculation ahead of the summer transfer window.
After a dismal campaign that saw Manchester United finish 15th in the Premier League and trophyless for the first time in three years, questions are being asked about the future of many players.
Ineos are planning a spending spree to raise funds for incoming signings, with United confirming three exits, with a potential 10 to follow throughout the summer.
Some members of United’s first team are more likely to leave than others, such as Antony, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho. The cast-aside trio all spent time away from Old Trafford on loan this season and will be looking to leave on permanent deals before the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
With United heading into their first season without European football since 2014/15, the club are expecting more financial restrictions following an already noticeable spending spree forced by Sir Jim Ratcliffe as well as the Glazers’ mismanagement for over 18 years.

Ruben Amorim breaks silence on Bruno Fernandes’ future
United fans will be concerned to see reports that club captain Bruno Fernandes could be sold to raise funds.
It would be a controversial move that would warrant backlash from supporters because Fernandes has often been the shining light for United in difficult times.
With the United dressing room ‘desperate’ for Fernandes to stay put, it remains to be seen how resilient Ineos will be if a significant offer is made for the Portugal international.

Reports in Saudi Arabia suggest a meeting took place between Al-Hilal and Fernandes’ agent recently.
Other reports on the meeting suggest it went on late into the night, with Al-Hilal prepared to pay Fernandes £200m over three years.
Ruben Amorim addressed the rumours in his post-match press conference, telling reporters: “I don’t think so [whether Fernandes leaves United]. I don’t know for sure.
“I think he wants to stay. He is saying no to a lot of things. The club can find other ways to make money. The feeling I get is that he wants to continue for sure with Man United, you never know.”
The United head coach kept his cards close to his chest but made it clear that he wants Fernandes to stay at United and that he won’t be forced out of the club, unless Ineos steps in to change the approach.
Bruno Fernandes record for Manchester United
It’s difficult to describe how important Fernandes has been to United since arriving from Sporting CP in 2020.
Fernandes flourished immediately under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and continued to perform under every manager since then, including Erik ten Hag and Amorim.
The Portugal international’s record for United speaks for itself after making 290 appearances.

It would be a crazy decision to sell Fernandes, and it would put even more pressure on the recruitment team to get it right this summer.
