Mariona wins Uwcl Goal of the Tournament

Mariona Caldentey’s stunner against Lyon has been crowned the UEFA Women’s Champions League Goal of the Tournament for 2024/25.

Our midfielder's sumptuous strike secured the most votes to take the prize, with Lyon's Melchie Dumornay effort against us in the first leg of our semi-final finishing second, while Aitana Bonmati's strike for Barcelona against Chelsea took the bronze medal.

Mariona's magical moment came late in the first half of the final four clash when she received the ball from Alessia Russo just outside the 18-yard box before rolling it out of her feet. She then curled the ball into the top right corner to give us a 2-1 lead in France, sending us on our way to a 5-3 win on aggregate to reach the final.

The award is another one to add to Mariona's collection from her debut season in north London, as she was named our Player of the Season and also scooped the WSL Player of the Season accolade.

The Goal of the Tournament poll featured the top 10 goals of the 2024/25 competition as selected by the UEFA Technical Observer Group, which were then put to a vote.
