All connected with Arsenal will be hoping they can sign a new striker as early as possible this summer as they target a big 2025/26 campaign. The 2024/25 term ultimately ended in disappointment for the Gunners as they once again finished second in the Premier League table and they also exited the Champions League at the semi-final stage.
In terms of the domestic cup competitions, Arsenal suffered more semi-final pain in the Carabao Cup and they departed the FA Cup at the first time of asking following a penalty shootout defeat against Manchester United. Not winning a major trophy since their FA Cup triumph back in 2020, Arteta and Arsenal are in desperate need of some silverware.
The north London club have really lacked a striker who can guarantee them upwards of 20 goals a campaign in recent seasons. Had they had that in their arsenal then things may have panned out very differently.
Heavily linked with Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, it may be the former who signs on the dotted line at the Emirates Stadium ahead of the new season. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated the north London club have opened "concrete talks" with RB Leipzig, who are believed to want £92.5million for the 21-year-old.
Firstly making a name for himself in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg, Sesko has continued to do the same since transferring to RB Leipzig in 2023. The Radece-born ace has hit 39 goals in 87 appearances for the Bundesliga club, with his outrageous strikes against Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich this season demonstrating the incredible ability he has in his locker.
If he is indeed to sign on the dotted line over the coming weeks, Sesko will no doubt become a very popular name on the back of Arsenal shirts. Currently RB Leipzig's No.30, the frontman can get the shirt number at Arsenal on one condition.
Raheem Sterling is currently in possession of the shirt after joining on loan from Chelsea last summer. Providing the Gunners do not choose to sign him permanently, which you would have to say is extremely unlikely given he failed to make his mark at the Emirates Stadium in 28 appearances, the number will be free for Sesko to take if he so wishes.
Since making his senior debut for Red Bull Salzburg, Sesko has always worn the No.30 on his back. At international level, he has opted to wear No.11 for Slovenia.
Unfortunately this number is not currently available at Arsenal as Gabriel Martinelli is the man in possession of the jersey. Providing he does join from RB Leipzig, the first opportunity for Sesko to don the red of Arsenal could come in the club's first pre-season friendly of the summer when they play AC Milan in Singapore on Wednesday, July 23.
