Chido Obi grabbed all the headlines as Manchester United won the final game of their post-season tour of Asia.
Manchester United beat Hong Kong 3-1 at the Hong Kong Stadium to end their post-season tour of Asia on a high, just two days after suffering a 1-0 defeat against ASEAN All-Stars in Malaysia.
United travelled to Asia following Sunday’s win over Aston Villa for a pair of friendly matches, which Ineos hope will earn the club in the region of £8m. It’s considered worthwhile for club suits, especially when the Red Devils are facing a first season without European football since 2014/15 after losing the Europa League final against Tottenham.
Ruben Amorim made wholesale changes to his team in both halves, giving minutes to many of his travelling squad, including Jonny Evans, who made his final appearance for United.
United started brightly but suffered a loss of tempo after conceding a goal scored by Juninho, with the Brazilian forward getting the better of Tom Heaton in the 19th minute.
After eleven changes at the break, United finally took advantage of their domination over Hong Kong and Chido Obi scored his first senior goal just four minutes into the second half. He would make it a brace after 82 minutes following a stunning cross from Mason Mount.

The youngster’s next milestone will be to continue to impress during the pre-season tour and to score his first senior competitive goal for the club.
Like Obi, Mount made a significant difference when he came on in the second half. The midfielder delivered several dangerous crosses in the box and switched the play numerous times to Amad Diallo.
It paid off in the final 10 minutes when Mount’s cross was directed home by Obi’s glancing header.
Mount took to Instagram after the match to hail Obi’s performance following the young striker’s brace.
The England international shared a picture of the pair on Instagram, writing: “Chidooo” along with two clapping hands emojis.
Rasmus Hojlund should be worried
After a dire second season at United, questions are bound to be asked of Rasmus Hojlund.
The Dane was replaced by Obi at half-time and struggled to have any impact on the game before Amorim made the change.
It was perhaps telling that Obi made a difference after just four minutes with his equalising goal.
On top of that, Obi’s stats cause more reason for Hojlund to be worried about his place at United.
The 17-year-old managed 10 touches inside Hong Kong’s box as well as six shots, including three on target and two that ended up in the back of the net.

Hojlund must improve because the writing is on the wall for the Dane otherwise.
