Exclusive - What Tijjani Reijnders has now told AC Milan as Man City look to sign him

TBR Football can exclusively reveal what Manchester City target Tijjani Reijnders has now told AC Milan ahead of a potential summer transfer.

Manchester City finished the Premier League in third place, securing Champions League football for next season.

City had a poor season by their high standards, finishing the campaign without a trophy.

They are now expected to have a big summer transfer window, with several new signings expected as they aim to bounce back with a title charge next season.

One of their top targets is AC Milan star Reijnders, who sits high on the club’s wishlist.

Tijjani Reijnders wants to join Manchester City

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that Reijnders has told AC Milan that he is keen to join Manchester City.

The Netherlands international is under contract with the Italian club until 2030, but a summer move remains possible despite signing an extension earlier in March.

The 26-year-old Dutch international Reijnders has made clear to Milan that he wants the chance to talk with City – a clear indication that he is keen to move to England.

Sources have also told TBR Football that new Milan head coach Max Allegri will not stand in the way of the player if he wants to leave as it will allow him and the club to reinvest in the squad.

It is believed the Italian club are seeking a fee close to £59m for Reijnders and the two clubs are now in talks, with an agreement expected soon.

The two clubs have a good relationship, with Man City loaning Kyle Walker to AC Milan last summer.

TBR Football can further confirm that Milan are in talks with City over the right-back’s future with a permanent move potentially on the cards. AC Milan also have an interest in Jack Grealish.

Man City need to bolster their midfield

Man City are preparing for a squad rebuild this summer, with midfield reinforcements a priority following Kevin De Bruyne’s departure at the end of his contract.

Ilkay Gundogan and Mateo Kovacic could reportedly leave as well, with Gundogan entering the final year of his contract after returning from Barcelona last year.

City need a top-quality midfielder, and Reijnders stands out as a prime target. Known for his technical skill, ball-carrying ability, and versatility, he can operate across multiple midfield roles.

In the recent season, Reijnders scored 15 goals and provided 5 assists in 54 appearances.

He also ranked high in several other key metrics: 10th in non-penalty goals, 2nd in passes into the penalty area, 5th in progressive passes, 6th in shot-creating actions, and 8th in progressive carries, making him a consistent threat from midfield.

His potential arrival would be a big boost for City, and under Guardiola, he could further develop his game.
