Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has confirmed it will take "a lot" of money for them to cash-in on Bryan Mbeumo this summer amid links with Manchester United.

United have been credited with interest in the Cameroon international this week amid their hunger to strengthen their attacking options ahead of next season.

Mbeumo was one of the best players in the Premier League last season, scoring 20 goals and registering seven assists to help Brentford achieve a respectable 10th-placed finish.

Only Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak were directly involved in more goals than him in the division.

With interest in the former Troyes man expected to be rife this summer, Bees chief Frank has made it clear the Londoners must attempt to try and command the biggest fee possible for him this summer.

"It is clear that if he is to be sold, it must be for a nice, nice amount," Frank told Tipsbladet. "It is a lot. Mucho.

"Really a lot. Then it is clear that it is impossible to replace him one for one. It cannot be done.

"There is a reason why he costs x number of million pounds, and we do not have x number of million pounds to buy for. I would say that I would be surprised if a lot of big clubs don't look at him.

"I would be surprised with what he has to offer. How many wingers score 20 goals for a mid-table club? And then with seven assists plus his work ethic. And his character.

"All these things mean that he has a lot, so he is a good player."
