Leeds United are preparing a bid of just under £17 million to sign Emi Buendia from Aston Villa, according to journalist Sebastien Vidal.
Daniel Farke guided Leeds to promotion at the second time of asking, winning the Championship with 100 points after a heart-breaking play-off final defeat in 2024. Now under the guidance of 49ers Enterprises, the Whites are seemingly already making moves to ensure their place in the Premier League.
After some speculation around his future, Farke’s position as Leeds boss has been confirmed by club ownership, meaning the German can focus entirely on the upcoming campaign as Leeds look to buck the recent trend of newly promoted teams facing immediate relegation.
United want to bolster their options in the number 10 and according to recent reports, may have settled on a target.
Leeds Want Buendia
Argentinian could depart Villa this summer
buendia
As per Vidal, Leeds are targeting a move for Aston Villa playmaker Emi Buendia. Buendia has long been on Leeds’ radar, the Argentine having worked with Farke during their time together at Norwich City in the past. Buendia, in recent years, has struggled for consistent minutes at Villa, spending the last six months of last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen.

Unai Emery has, reportedly, given Buendia the green light to move on from Villa Park and a fee of just under £17 million would seemingly be accepted. Buendia would, in that case, not only represent a shrewd deal for Leeds, but the Whites would be signing a brilliant number 10 to offer depth to Brenden Aaronson, the club’s only natural attacking midfielder at the time of writing.
Most crucially, however, Buendia, who would be open to departing Villa, has bags of Premier League experience, something that will prove vital if Leeds want to survive in their first season back within the top flight.
