Florian Wirtz has "an agreement" in place with, and is “ready to fly” to, Liverpool as soon as they and Bayer Leverkusen have thrashed out the final details of his transfer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Since winning the Premier League title, Liverpool have made it clear that the trophy is one they intend to defend. To replace the Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Jeremie Frimpong. Not stopping there, the Reds are also keen on left-back Milos Kerkez, who has starred for Bournemouth under Andoni Iraola.
Arne Slot also wants to bolster his options in the attacking third and Liverpool have been pursuing Florian Wirtz, Frimpong’s teammate at Bayer Leverkusen. The Reds have submitted an official bid for the playmaker and it would appear that the German will soon be joining up with the Premier League champions.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has stated that Wirtz is more than ready to move to the Premier League and is simply waiting on all of the deal’s necessities to be completed. Romano said:
“Liverpool are working on it. The negotiation is underway with Bayer Leverkusen, the official bid is on the table. The player has an agreement with Liverpool, the player wants to go to Liverpool. The player is ready to fly as soon as Liverpool and Leverkusen will authorise him for formal steps.
“Everything is ready for Florian Wirtz to become a new Liverpool player, but working on the agreement between clubs on the add-ons structure. (There is) big confidence and optimism to bring Florian Wirtz, very soon, to Anfield.”
To date, Wirtz has spent his entire senior career at Leverkusen, having grown into one of the most talented number 10s in world football. Across the 2023/24 campaign, Wirtz played an integral role in Leverkusen’s unbeaten domestic double of the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal, enjoying another stellar term under Xabi Alonso following that.

In Wirtz, described as a "superstar," Liverpool would be signing a player that could be part of their midfield for years to come. Slot has already proven that he can cope with the level of the Premier League and by signing a player of Wirtz’s quality, it is clear that the Dutchman wants to better what was a brilliant debut season.
