The next steps in the career of Cristiano Ronaldo have been in question lately since the five-time Ballon d’Or winner posted a cryptic message on social media.
Posting a picture of himself on X in the Al-Nassr kit, Ronaldo captioned the image: “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”
This seemingly pointed towards the 40-year-old leaving Al-Nassr after two and a half years with the club, especially with transfer interest ahead of the Club World Cup.
Clubs from both Brazil and Morocco have been looking to sign the star as a boost to their ranks ahead of the inaugural tournament. However, Ronaldo looks set to stay in Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo’s move to the Saudi Pro League opened the door to other top players like Sadio Mane and Neymar joining the league, with Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes potentially on the verge of moving to Al-Hilal.
However, Ronaldo’s impact hasn’t just been felt by the league, but he’s been hugely beneficial for Al-Nassr.
Since joining in January 2023, Ronaldo’s scored 93 goals and grabbed 19 assists in 105 games, however is still yet to with the league or a domestic cup with the club.
That said, Al-Nassr aren’t giving up on the talented attacker as Santi Aouna has reported that Ronaldo has agreed to stay with the club.
It’s understood that a full agreement is in place between Ronaldo and the club, with a contract already been signed.
Now, both parties will be hoping that next season will be third time lucky to land some silverware.
