Admired across Europe for his ability to unlock deep defences and carry the ball through midfield, Cherki has long been seen as a perfect fit for United’s future system.

Manchester City get the ‘go ahead’ from Rayan Cherki and his camp
As per journalist Santi Aouna on X, Manchester City have received the green light from Cherki, with the 21-year-old having agreed to join Pep Guardiola’s side.
There are reportedly no issues over personal terms, and Guardiola has personally spoken to the Frenchman about his vision for the project.
City are looking to move quickly, with talks now ongoing and a potential deal worth around €40m under discussion.

The club see Cherki as one of two priority signings – alongside Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders – as they prepare for the FIFA Club World Cup and aim to fend off interest from other European giants.
Cherki has just one year left on his current contract and is expected to depart this summer in search of a new challenge.
United had hoped to pounce on that situation but now face the prospect of missing out, unless they act fast to revive their pursuit.
