He praised Omar Marmoush, calling him “excellent” and admitting that he was a summer target, but the club felt they needed to move early.
“I think with Omar Marmoush, an excellent player, he’s been on our radar for a little while,” Al Mubarak said.
“He would’ve been a target for this summer, but the need was clear, he’s made an immediate impact.”
Al Mubarak then spoke highly of Abdukodir Khusanov, who also joined City in the winter transfer window.
“Then you have Khusanov, he’s a very, very talented central defender that we’ve been watching for a while,” said Al Mubarak.
“Again, in the winter, he would’ve been a player we’d have made the move on this summer, but we needed to move early.
“Khusanov is the type of young, versatile and talented central defender who will fit in our group.”
Al Mubarak also praised fellow new signing Vitor Reis, backing him to be a “tremendous” player for City.

What pundits have been saying about Abdukodir Khusanov and Omar Marmoush
Roy Keane believes Khusanov will be fine after his tough start to life at City amid reports claiming Khusanov had not trained for a month before his move.
This was said to be as a result of a winter break in France and then not being with Will Still’s group as a transfer to Man City edged closer.
Meanwhile, Dion Dublin recently claimed Man City have been really impressed with Khusanov behind the scenes.
As for the latter, Peter Crouch and Joe Cole both named Marmoush as their City player of the season for his heroics since joining the club in January.
Meanwhile, Michael Owen suggested that Marmoush’s rocket against Bournemouth was a Goal of the Season contender.
Owen said just after Marmoush’s goal: “I voted for my goal of the season yesterday. I’m gutted we didn’t delay it a couple of days as there might be another winner.”
It’ll be so exciting to see how both players fare next term after a full pre-season under their belts.
