Arsenal appear to have picked out their top striker target after years of searching.
Indeed, Arsenal have opened serious talks to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
Sesko may well be the man for Arsenal, and, in some ways, this signing is somewhat underwhelming if it goes through.
Sesko looks a talent, but he only scored 13 league goals this season in the Bundesliga – that’s hardly the type of tally that will move the needle for Arsenal.
However, at the age of just 21, what Arsenal are buying here is a lot of potential, and according to Charles Watts, speaking on his YouTube channel, people in football believe Sesko could be headed to the very top.

Benjamin Sesko tipped to become one of the world’s best
Watts shared what people in football have said to him about Sesko.
According to the journalist, everyone he speaks to in the game suggests that Sesko has what it takes to become one of the best strikers in world football.
“I can understand Leipzig valuing him very highly. He’s clearly hugely talented, he’s in demand. Everyone you talk to who know football far better than I do seems to think that Sesko has it in him to become one of the best strikers in the world because of the attributes he has.”

Benjamin Sesko’s goalscoring numbers aren’t incredible at the moment, but he is just 21 years old.
Strikers can peak at different times, and when you compare Sesko at 21 to some legendary Arsenal strikers of yesteryear, you can see that he may well be on the path to superstardom.

Of course, development isn’t linear, so there’s no suggestion that Sesko will improve from now in the same way a player like Thierry Henry did after the age of 21, but these figures show that there’s still tons of room to grow and improve for Sesko.
Henry wasn’t amazing at the age of 21, but Henry became an all-time great.
As Watts says, people in football have high hopes for Sesko, and this is a signing that could be very exciting for Arsenal indeed.
