Report: ‘World-class’ £134m Liverpool duo now eyed for blockbuster Saudi switch, could replace…

Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez could reportedly leave Liverpool for the Saudi Pro League amid Cristiano Ronaldo's expected Al-Nassr exit.

Nunez has long been expected to leave Anfield this summer after failing to win Arne Slot over. The Uruguayan frontman hinted at a departure with a post in the aftermath of the Reds' Premier League trophy parade.

Diaz's future hasn't always looked certain, especially with Barcelona showing interest. The Colombian winger is reportedly prepared to snub a contract offer and take the "next step in his career" by moving to Camp Nou.

Liverpool's Diaz & Nunez Wanted in Saudi Arabia

Al-Nassr want a Cristiano Ronaldo replacement

The Guardian reports that Al-Nassr are showing interest in Diaz and are considering making a move for the 28-year-old. The Saudi Pro League giants are set to react to Cristiano Ronaldo's expected departure, and the Colombian appears to be the "big name" player they want as a replacement.

Ronaldo's contract expires next month, and FIFA are eager for the 40-year-old to play at the revamped FIFA Club World Cup. Diaz won't be appearing in the tournament as Liverpool aren't participating, but he could do so with a move abroad.

Diaz was a bright spark throughout the campaign for the Reds and claimed his first title with the club since arriving from FC Porto in a £37m deal in January 2022. He has two years left on his current deal at Anfield, but he could be off this summer alongside Nunez.

Al-Hilal are thought to be eyeing the 25-year-old, who, unlike his fellow South American, struggled to impress this season. He arrived from Benfica six months after Diaz, with huge expectations of a £85m deal (including £21m in add-ons) and was tipped by Guillem Balague to become "world-class".

Liverpool are more open to selling Nunez, who has three years left on his contract. He and the previously labeled "world-class" Diaz would be the two biggest names signed during Jurgen Klopp's regime to depart under Slot, and the German coach was a fan, describing them as a "special duo".
