Brentford manager Thomas Frank has delivered a firm message to Arsenal and other potential suitors of Bryan Mbeumo, insisting that the star winger will only be allowed to leave this summer for a substantial fee.

Mbeumo, 25, is coming off a sensational 2024/25 Premier League season in which he scored 20 goals and registered seven assists, cementing his status as one of the league’s most productive wide forwards. Unsurprisingly, his form has attracted interest from top clubs, with Arsenal and Newcastle United among those reportedly weighing up summer bids.

Speaking to Viaplay, Frank made it clear that Brentford will not let Mbeumo go without serious compensation.“It is clear that if he is to be sold, it must be for a nice, nice amount,” Frank said. “It is a lot. Mucho. Really a lot.”

“It’s impossible to replace him one for one. There’s a reason he costs x number of million pounds and we don’t have that same amount to buy a player of his level.”

The Brentford boss added that he would be “surprised” if major clubs did not pursue Mbeumo given his rare combination of attacking output, versatility, and work ethic.

“How many wingers score 20 goals for a mid-table club? And then with seven assists, plus his character and defensive contribution. He’s a good player—no doubt.”

Mbeumo’s profile makes him an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta’s fluid attacking system at Arsenal. Capable of playing across the front three, his ability to operate on the right wing or centrally could offer crucial depth behind Bukayo Saka and ease the creative burden on the Gunners’ front line. Arsenal previously expressed interest in Mbeumo during the final stages of last summer’s transfer window.

Newcastle, meanwhile, see the Cameroon international as a way to reduce the reliance on Alexander Isak, with Eddie Howe keen on adding firepower ahead of a potential European push.

Brentford are understood to value Mbeumo at around €60 million (£50–55 million), a figure that is likely to be the starting point for any negotiations. According to talkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy, Mbeumo’s playing style is reminiscent of Mohamed Salah, thanks to his explosive left foot, relentless movement, and high shot volume—averaging 5.2 attempts per game this season
