Ruben Amorim’s first six months in charge have proven difficult, with inconsistent results and a squad that clearly needs restructuring.

The Portuguese head coach is now tasked with reshaping the team by moving on players who no longer fit the club’s direction and securing upgrades in key areas.

United have already confirmed that three senior players will leave the club next month as part of this process – Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, and Christian Eriksen.

More exits are expected in the coming weeks, with Amorim eager to streamline the squad ahead of pre-season.

Christian Eriksen sends emotional message to Manchester United fans

Christian Eriksen, who joined United in 2022 on a free transfer after a standout season at Brentford, will depart after three years at the club.

During his time at Old Trafford, the Danish international worked under three different managers – Erik ten Hag, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ruben Amorim.

The midfielder made 107 appearances in total, scoring eight goals and providing 18 assists.

At 33, Eriksen still managed to feature 35 times this season, a notable increase from the 25 appearances he made the year before.

Following confirmation of his departure, Eriksen took to Instagram to share a heartfelt farewell.

He wrote a “huge thank you” to Manchester United fans for their support and praised the “hardworking people” at Carrington and Old Trafford, as well as his teammates.

Eriksen’s exit has already drawn emotional responses from across the squad.

Among the first to comment was Joshua Zirkzee, who wrote on Instagram: “I’m going to miss you friend.”

Daley Blind also responded with a heart emoji, while former United goalkeeper David de Gea simply commented “Class” alongside a love heart.

While departures are part of football’s cycle, Eriksen’s exit marks the end of a thoughtful and respected presence at the club.

His farewell goes to show just how valued he was inside the dressing room.
