Gian Piero Gasperini’s final visit to Turin as Atalanta manager was to put one of the final nails in the coffin of the short Thiago Motta era at [Juventus](https://www.blackwhitereadallover.com). As it turns out, Gasperini won’t be the man who ends up taking over in Turin just a few months late.r
According to reports out of Italy on Friday, Gasperini has spurned Juventus late approach about their managerial position that may or may not be open for the 2025-26 season and will instead sign a three-year contract with [Roma](https://www.chiesaditotti.com). Gasperini had reportedly requested some time to evaluate all of his options — be it with Roma or even the unlikelihood of staying with Atalanta beyond this summer — and that was seen as a potential door being open for Juventus to try and make a late push.
Instead, Gasperini informed Roma on Friday that he will be heading to the Italian capital to take over for Claudio Ranieri, who took the club from being just outside the relegation zone in December to pushing Juventus to the final day of the season for a fourth-place finish and Champions League spot.
So now, as it stands, another rumored target of Juventus has gone elsewhere. Just 24 hours earlier, Antonio Conte decided to stay at Napoli after multiple meetings with club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.
What that means for Juve’s current interim manager Igor Tudor still remains to be seen. As Juventus are remaking their front office and are set to have somebody other than Cristiano Giuntoli calling the shots in terms of the decision making, where Tudor stands beyond the Club World Cup is a relative unknown. But as time passes, potential replacements get checked off the list as they either stay where they are (Conte) or go elsewhere (Gasperini).
