Man Utd have a huge summer ahead of them where they need to make reinforcements in a number of positions.
However, failing to qualify for European competitions is set to affect them, both in terms of finances and the ability to attract players.
News –Report – Manager ready to sign £50.4million star from Manchester United
Ruben Amorim will have to convince players to come to Old Trafford by dangling the project that he is building in front of their eyes and even so, the Red Devils have had failed project after failed project for a while now to earn any good will.
One position that Man Utd look to be keen on reinforcing is the goalkeeper. Andre Onana has spent two seasons at Old Trafford and has been erratic at best and the Red Devils need a goalkeeper like David de Gea who can offer reliability inbetween the posts.
Now, as per Caught Offside, Man Utd are determined and not giving up in talks to sign Espanyol shot-stopper Joan Garcia.
The 24-year-old Spaniard has been the best in his position in La Liga this season, almost single-handedly keeping the Catalan club away from relegation.
This has prompted plenty of interest in the Spanish shot-stopper. Barcelona seem favorites to land him despite the player not giving the greenlight but other clubs like but Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle United also want him.
Thus, Man Utd have to contend with huge competition that have better projects to convince the player to come to Old Trafford.
The last time they signed a Spanish shot-stopper from La Liga, it ended up being a legendary piece of business from them.
With so much interest in Garcia though, the chances of the player moving to Old Trafford are slim. Even if he wanted to move to England and Manchester in particular, he has the chance to become the number one under Pep Guardiola.
Garcia has a release clause of around £21million in his contract and whichever club lands him is likely to be getting the bargain of the season.
Man Utd can try all they want but one cannot get too optimistic about this transfer happening. Let’s wait and see how it plays out.
