Report: Man Utd to hold talks for star who is ‘one of the best in the world’ in his position,…

Manchester United could join the transfer battle to sign Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia this summer, CaughtOffside has claimed.

The Red Devils are in the market for a new shot-stopper and have reportedly identified Garcia as a ‘serious’ option.

CaughtOffside claims United chiefs are hoping to hold talks in the coming days over a possible deal for the Spanish goalkeeper, who remains a target for a host of Premier League and European clubs, including long-term admirers Arsenal.

Garcia is also believed to be a key target for La Liga giants Barcelona, who are currently ‘favourites’ to sign him, although the 24-year-old has yet to give the green light for a move to Camp Nou.

According to CaughtOffside, Man United sense an opportunity to make a late swoop for Garcia, but a move is far from guaranteed given the number of clubs chasing his signature.

While Arsenal and Barcelona are among the frontrunners, Manchester City and Newcastle are also 'worth keeping an eye on' in the race to sign the 24-year-old star.

Garcia, praised as 'one of the best goalkeepers in the world', is believed to be keeping his options open following his breakthrough La Liga campaign and has a €25m (£21m) release clause in his contract, which runs until June 2028.

Man United have been linked with signing a new goalkeeper in recent weeks, with Torino’s Vanja Milinkovic-Savic also among their potential options.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have made initial contact over a move for the Serbia international and have requested information on his price this summer.
