ALLEN PARK -- The Detroit Lions have been back in Allen Park for a couple of days for Organized Team Activities. But they will be limiting or holding out more than a dozen players at Friday’s session.
Dan Campbell listed 19 players expected to be limited or missing on Friday, while also throwing in Brad Holmes, Chris Spielman, Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson’s name -- having fun with the long list:
* DL Myles Adams
* DL Brodric Martin
* DL Levi Onwuzurike
* DL DJ Reader
* DL Josh Paschal
* DL Mekhi Wingo
* DL Tyleik Williams
* LB Derrick Barnes
* LB Jack Campbell
* LB Malcolm Rodriguez
* DB Brian Branch
* CB Terrion Arnold
* CB Khalil Dorsey
* OL Miles Frazier
* TE Kenny Yeboah
* WR Amon-Ra St. Brown
* WR Isaac TeSlaa
* RB David Montgomery
* RB Sione Vaki
“That’s the list. Look, some of them are so minor, like the rookies man, they’ve been training for the combine, all that,” Campbell said. “We’re just trying to get some of these guys right physically. Let’s get their bodies right. Everything aligned right and then they’ll be ready for training camp.
“And for a number of guys, we’re just trying to be smart. We’re just trying to be smart. We got a little ding here and there, so we’re just trying to make sure everybody is good.”

Campbell noted that two unnamed players are not in Allen Park for OTAs. But the head coach said he knows who they are, where they are and what they are doing, “and it’s all good.”
When asked how things are with players who desire a new contract, Campbell said he’s been in contact with anyone not here, and he will not reveal conversations he has with players to the media.
Linebacker Alex Anzalone is one of those players thought not to be in Allen Park for OTAs. The team-voted captain is entering a contract year, and Anzalone’s worth for this defense has been proven as a necessity and major boost.
“I think what’s great is that any player that I talk to, like I have a relationship with and there is an open line of communication,” Campbell said. “Whatever I say to those players, I’m not going to say to you guys. I never will.
“There is communication -- It’s been great. I’m not -- Listen, I’m not worried about anything. We’re in late May -- is it even June yet? We’re not even in June, so life is good. We’re going to be just fine.”
