'In the last 24 hours': Berta held meeting with opposite number over Arsenal strike target who 'has everything' - Romano

Arsenal’s board have not wasted any time in pursuing transfer targets to give Mikel Arteta the best possible chance of fighting on multiple fronts next season.

The Gunners failed to win a trophy in 2024/25, and the likes of Ian Wright and Chris Sutton have said that Arsenal’s recruitment was largely to blame.

Attacking reinforcements are a priority for Arsenal, and director Andrea Berta is busy trying to get a new striker for the club early on in the window.

Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Benjamin Sesko, claiming Berta has held a meeting with his opposite number at RB Leipzig

Arsenal hold meeting with RB Leipzig over Benjamin Sesko

On Thursday, Romano claimed that Arsenal had begun “concrete talks” over Sesko.

The transfer insider, speaking on his YouTube channel, has now elaborated on the Gunners’ pursuit of the Slovenia international.

“So Arsenal made contact in the last 24 hours with Red Bull Leipzig,” said Romano.

“There was a meeting between Arsenal’s director and Red Bull Leipzig’s director to have direct contact to understand how much Sesko can cost.

“So all this sort of discussion, and also on player side. So the conversation is now starting.”

At just 21 years of age, Sesko is still at the start of his career and can still become a lot better, but he has already proven himself at the highest level.

Charles Watts recently said of Sesko: “Everyone you talk to – who knows football far better than I do – seems to think that Sesko has it in him to become one of the best strikers in the world, because of the attributes he has.”
