Marcus Rashford is looking set to leave Manchester United after two decades with the club, as Barcelona hope to sign the attacker this summer.

Rashford and Ruben Amorim clashed quite early into the Portuguese manager’s time at Old Trafford, with Amorim dropping Rashford from his squad amid concerns from the club.

Members of The Red Devils camp were growing weary of Rashford’s lack of focus on the pitch, with off-field factors affecting his on-field performances.

Then, Rashford seemingly announced the end of his United days, claiming he’s looking for a new challenge in a tell all interview.

This led to Rashford being sent out on loan to Aston Villa, with an option to buy for £40 million, where the attacker thrived.

Rashford delivered a series of impressive performances at Villa Park, showing he still has the magic, and reclaimed his position in the England squad.

However, as Villa failed to secure Champions League football, they were unable to commit to the permanent move financially, with Rashford’s £325,000 per week contract being to costly for them.

Marcus Rashford hopes for Barcelona move

Ultimately, Rashford has returned to Old Trafford, however isn’t getting settled, with talks between his agent and Barcelona legend Deco taking place in a hotel in the Spanish city.

Now, Spanish publication Sport has reported that the meeting went well, however, the LaLiga champions are looking to take Rashford on loan, not as a permanent move.

It’s understood that Barcelona have proposed a loan offer, comprising of a fee of between £4 million and £8.5 million for the loan (€5 million to €10 million), full coverage of Rashford’s salary and an option to buy.

Whilst Deco and manager Hansi Flick are huge fans of Rashford, they are currently prioritising a move for Liverpool’s Luiz Dias, with Rashford as back up.

However United are reportedly uninterested in a loan move, wanting to offload their academy graduate for good. As such it’s unlikely that The Red Devils will agree another option to buy, given that Villa’s option to buy fell through.
