From Spain: Man Utd in "pole position" to sign Albacete Balompie striker Christian Kofane

Manchester United are in pole position to sign Albacete Balompie striker Christian Kofane during the summer transfer window, according to Mundo Deportivo (page 11).

The 18-year-old signed for the Spanish second-tier club from Cameroonian outfit AS Nylon in November last year. He made his senior debut for Albacete in January.

Kofane made a good impression with eight goals and one assist from 19 appearances in La Liga 2, and he is now attracting plenty of interest from elite European clubs.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim that United, Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco are in ‘pole position’ to sign the striker and are prepared to trigger his £5 million release clause.

Albacete hope to have the youngster back on loan next season in that case.

United could trigger clause to land Kofane

The Red Devils have added quality young talent to the academy over recent years.

Chido Obi and Harry Amass were signed from Arsenal and Watford respectively. The duo made their senior debuts this year and could have huge careers ahead of them.

Sekou Kone is another big prospect in the squad. The teenage midfielder was purchased from Guidars FC and could be promoted to the first team if he impresses in pre-season.

In our opinion, United could now activate the clause to purchase Kofane, who has caught the eye with his impressive positioning and goalscoring ability in the box.

The youngster has converted 23 percent of his shots into goals. He has scored goals with both feet and has also found the net with a couple of headed efforts.

United could be tempted to add Kofane to the development squad, but it won’t be an easy challenge with Leverkusen and Monaco also in the race to sign him.

The European duo are known for nurturing young talent into quality players. The Red Devils will need to be proactive to win the race for the player’s signature.
