Manchester United are currently experiencing one of their worst periods of recent years, and seem to be catching no break.

This season ranked as the club’s worst ever Premier League campaign, coming in 15th, missing out on places to qualify for European football next season.

Their only chance to redeem European football was with the FA Cup and the Europa League, both of which they were knocked out of, with Fulham beating them in the FA Cup fifth round and Spurs beating them in the Europa League final.

As such, Manchester United missed out on the chance for Champions League football, and with it £100 million in extra revenue, which they definitely need right now.

The club’s woes don’t just lie on the pitch, but also in their bank account, as the Red Devils have revealed six consecutive years of losses with Sir Jim Ratcliffe trying to turn things around.

However, years of interest on the Glazer debt and financial mismanagement with inflated transfers coupled with poor performances, have left United desperate.

As such, the club organised a post-season tour of Asia, seeing them face the ASEAN All-Stars in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the Hong Kong national side in Hong Kong.

However, The Times has revealed that the tour has left players “fuming” as they were “dragged to the Far East” when they could be spending time with their families.

The signs of frustration have been clear.

Middle finger gestures from Alejandro Garnacho, peripheral players advising fellow teammates to give short answers in Q&A sessions to keep the appearances short and sweet, as well as letting off steam with a no-rules night in Malaysia.

The Hong Kong head coach Ashley Westwood summed the situation up well saying the United players needed the tour “like a hole in the head”, but the club need the money.

He explained very clearly: “This trip is all about revenues, it has become a thing.”

Thankfully for Ruben Amorim’s squad the tour is now over, with the squad due to get back to the UK on Saturday, able then to head off and pend time with their families before the pre-season tour in America kicks off in July.
