Hansi Flick has been reflecting on his first season in charge of Barcelona after winning three titles in Catalunya.
The German coach brought [home La Liga](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/5/15/24431174/gerard-pique-sends-epic-message-as-barcelona-win-la-liga-title-with-espanyol-win), Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup titles and his team were’t too far away in the Champions League either.
Barca also beat Real Madrid four times throughout the season but, when asked about the most important game of the campaign, Flick went for something else entirely.
> “The most important match wasn’t the big ones, for me it was the Espanyol match, because I knew it would be very tough,” he told Barca On.
>
> “The day before, Madrid scored five seconds before the end, and I knew it would be difficult against Espanyol—’Dela’ and the others had already told me—that it wouldn’t be easy because it’s a derby, but we did well.
>
> “Espanyol also played very well; they defended well and hurt us with counterattacks, but in the end, with a clean sheet and of course, with Lamine and Fermín, it was great.”
Madrid came into the game after managing to come from behind to beat Mallorca thanks to a last-gasp goal deep into stoppage time. However, [Barca followed that up with a victory against their local rivals that delivered the title](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/barcelona-la-liga/2025/5/15/24428461/espanyol-barcelona-la-liga-final-score-match-report-recap-reactions).
