Juventus consider Silva for head coach vacancy

Reports from Italy suggest that Juventus are now strongly considering appointing Marco Silva as their new head coach after failing to land some of their top targets.

Sky Sport Italia report that the Bianconeri are mulling over the merits of the Fulham head coach after failing to persuade Antonio Conte, who guided Napoli to the Serie A title this season, to take over after they sacked Thiago Motta in March. Igor Tudor’s caretaker reign looks set to end after the Club World Cup this summer but Juve also missed out on Gian Piero Gasperini, who will manage Roma instead.

Di Marzio discloses that the initial contact with Silva was engineered by the Portuguese manager’s agent, Jorge Mendes, but it is clear that Silva remains just one of a number of contenders for the vacancy, which may not be as attractive as in previous seasons with the Old Lady in dire need of a rebuild. Football Italia asserts that a potential Silva appointment wouldn’t find favour with the Juventus fans, who would want a bigger name to reverse their recent struggles.
