Paris Saint-Germain will make history if they can clinch their first-ever Champions League title against Italian giants Inter Milan this Saturday.

Despite a trophy cabinet brimming with domestic silverware, the coveted European Cup has always eluded Les Parisiens. Their closest brush came in 2020 when they suffered a gut-wrenching 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich. Kingsley Coman was the villain of the piece for PSG that night, his 59th-minute strike being the only goal separating the two teams.

However, with a squad bursting at the seams with talent and under the guidance of Luis Enrique, many football fans are hoping to see the French giants finally lift the trophy at the Allianz Arena. The journey to the final hasn't been a cakewalk for PSG, having scraped through the Champions League league phase in 15th place.

They then faced off against Ligue 1 rivals Brest in the play-offs for a spot in the last 16. Over two legs, PSG managed to rack up an impressive 7-0 aggregate score, then went on to triumph over Premier League champs Liverpool on penalties, Aston Villa in the quarter-finals, and Arsenal in the semis.

While Enrique - who's already had a taste of UCL glory with Barcelona back in 2014/15 - is keen to add another European title to his CV, he'll have to outsmart a formidable Inter Milan side to do so. Inter, no stranger to Champions League glory, already have three titles under their belt.

They clinched back-to-back victories in 1964 and 1965 against Real Madrid and Benfica respectively, with their most recent win being a 2-0 victory over Bayern in 2010, reports the Mirror. After narrowly missing out on the Serie A title to Napoli by just one point this season, I Nerazzurri are keen to secure some form of trophy for their efforts in the 2024/25 season.

Finishing fourth in the Champions League standings meant Inter didn't have to face a play-off tie to reach the knockout stages, thus they've played two fewer matches than PSG in the competition. Instead, they triumphed over Feyenoord in the last 16, ousted Bayern in the quarter-finals and delivered a 7-6 aggregate defeat to Barcelona in the semis to secure their spot in the final.
