Manchester United enquire to sign'the best left-back in the Premier League', he's the'complete player'- Journalist

This summer, there are several priority positions for Manchester United to bolster.

Ineos have a massive job on their hands this summer in order to put the Manchester United squad in a place where it can push on and win trophies under Ruben Amorim.

Already, United are close to signing Matheus Cunha, who is a huge addition of one of the most talented footballers in the Premier League over the past 18 months, and he promises to be a sensation.

It is thought that United are targeting four key positions this summer, which will likely lead to a striker along with further midfield reinforcements, both attacking and defensive, added to Cunha.

However, with sales, United are expected to have several additional positions on the agenda this summer, one of which now appears to be another left-wing-back.

Manchester United enquire over Pervis Estupinan

One position that does not come to mind as a potential area Ineos will be improving in this summer is left wing-back.

This is due to United signing Patrick Dorgu for £25m in January; however, with the young Dane not setting the world alight, it appears a more established option is on the minds of Ineos.

Now, journalist Ben Jacobs has appeared on the United Stand YouTube channel, in which the reliable journalist mentioned one player he heard United have been looking into.

“Pervis Estupinan is a name Manchester United have enquired about for the left wing-back role”, he explained, with the Brighton defender one of the league’s most highly rated.

Signing Estupinan to be the first choice ahead of Dorgu would see Amorim with incredible depth in that position. Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler has told The Argus that Estupinan can be ‘the best left-back in the Premier League’.

The Ecuadorian is an offensive full-back and, given the license to roam under Amorim, he could become a real dangerman. His creativity has been lauded by his former manager Roberto De Zerbi, who said to The Argus that Estupinan is becoming a ‘complete player’.

If Estupinan were signed, which we cannot help but doubt, it would leave United with big decisions to make over the next season.

What would this mean for Harry Amass and Diego Leon?

Over the past few months, Harry Amass has become a first-team regular for United and has been very impressive at times.

Amass will have earned Amorim’s trust over the past few months, which would make it a surprise if he were looking for a left wing-back this summer, considering it probably falls among the lowest priorities this summer.

In addition, United will welcome Diego Leon in June, with the Paraguayan being incredibly raw and not first-team ready yet, but that leaves United perfectly placed with options.

If Estupinan does arrive, then it would probably signal that Amass would be heading on loan, as he is too good to be in the reserves. Meanwhile, Leon will likely spend the season in the academy anyway, similar to how Sekou Kone did last campaign.
