The summer transfer window opens tomorrow (Saturday) and Liverpool will be involved in two deals on the first day.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid has now been confirmed and his 20-year association with Liverpool will officially end this weekend. Finding a replacement hasn’t taken long; Jeremie Frimpong has already been unveiled as a Red.
That announcement came just six hours after Alexander-Arnold’s exit, although the feeling at Liverpool is that Frimpong will offer more than just an additional right-back in the squad. He can also operate in a more advanced role.
His long-term teammate Florian Wirtz could join him at Liverpool after the Reds reportedly tabled a second improved offer for the German international.
There have been suggestions that this bid - which could be worth up to £109 million ($147M) - is closer to Bayer Leverkusen’s asking price.
Meanwhile, Luis Diaz continues to be linked with an exit from Liverpool, as Al-Nassr monitors the player. Others such as Caoimhin Kelleher, Kostas Tsimikas, Harvey Elliott and Cody Gakpo also continue to draw speculation.

Frimpong’s arrival was finally confirmed yesterday, with Liverpool agreeing to pay his €35 million ($39.8M/£29.5M) release clause. That will be paid over three annual instalments, and the transfer will be made official when the window opens on Sunday. While Frimpong has been brought in primarily as a right-back, Liverpool also sees the player as someone who can play anywhere on the right flank due to his versatility, including in an attacking role. That could be particularly important with Mohamed Salah set to take part in the African Cup of Nations next season.

Head still spinning from yesterday’s news? We don’t blame you. The transfers of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jeremie Frimpong being confirmed, in addition to a second bid for Florian Wirtz, certainly was a day of big news. We can’t promise today will bring as many big updates, but the reaction certainly continues.
