Report: Early advantage landed in race to sign Gustavo Hamer between Everton and Leeds United

Everton and Leeds United are looking set to battle it out for a number of the same targets this summer.

David Moyes is eyeing continued progression on Merseyside following a strong return to the Toffees since January.

Leeds are returning to the Premier League following their title-winning campaign in the Championship.

Even Everton know all too well just how competitive the Premier League has become with a lot of work needed this summer.

Everton have already taken Angus Kinnear from Leeds and are now looking to beat them to a number of players.

The two sides are already showing interest in similar targets as Everton eye Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer.

With Leeds also on the scene, the Whites may have pulled out a secret trick which could give them the upper hand in the pursuit.

Whether Leeds or Everton hold the early Gustavo Hamer advantage

It has been suggested Sheffield United will demand £20m to sell Hamer over the coming months to one of the Premier League outfits.

According to the Daily Mail, it may well be Leeds that hold the early advantage in the race to sign the Dutch midfielder.

Hamer’s agent secured Jayden Bogle a move to Leeds from Bramall Lane just last year, which bodes well for the relationship between the two parties.

The Whites will be encouraged by that as they look to make some solid additions to bolster their chances in the top flight.

Everton are already close to signing Carlos Alcaraz on a permanent deal, but the Toffees need to combat the loss of Abdoulaye Doucoure.

More midfield options are needed on the back of what was a terrible season when it comes to injuries.

Hamer would offer some real versatility but he is proving not to be a straightforward addition.

Everton cannot be losing out to Leeds United

If a player has concerns he will not get the game time at Everton then there is little the club can do.

However, the future looks extremely bright for the Toffees and they should be capable of beating Leeds to signing this summer.

The Hill Dickinson Stadium will transform Everton’s finances and propel them into competing once again in the top end of the table.

However, they need to recruit wisely as they aim to continue their development under Moyes.

For the first time in a while, Everton will be able to spend fairly freely this summer but that should not lower the importance of finding the right players.
