“I’m not worried at all” – Aston Villa player unconcerned about future, exit negotiations complex

Aston Villa’s Philippe Coutinho has been on loan at Vasco da Gama this season and the temporary agreement will expire on June 30th.

The attacking midfielder’s contract at Aston Villa lasts until 2026, but the Brazilian club want to extend his stay beyond next month.

On May 7th, Vasco da Gama president Pedrinho stated he will do everything possible to keep the 32-year-old.

Globo Esporte state extending Coutinho’s stay is one of the priorities for Vasco da Gama. They are aware negotiations are complex but are still optimistic of a positive outcome.

The South American club are working on a new loan agreement whilst not ruling out him terminating his contract with the Villans to join them permanently in the summer window.

Coutinho has managed five goals and three assists from 24 games, and his last outing was in Vasco da Gama’s 3-0 win over Peruvian side FBC Melgar in the Copa Sudamericana.

The Aston Villa player has been speaking to reporters, who asked about his renewal at the Brazilian club.

“I’m not worried at all about that [renewal]. My concern is in these games that I’m here. I’m going to give my best, play well. Learn from the coach, learn his ideas. Evolve together with the team. That’s my only concern,” he said, quoted by Globo.
