Bruno Guimaraes drops fresh hint on his Newcastle United future on Instagram

Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has made a telling statement on his future in a recent social media post.

The Brazilian is now enjoying some well-deserved time off following the end of the Premier League season, his first as captain of the Magpies.

Bruno Guimaraes has etched his name into the Newcastle United history books this season, having become the first captain since Bob Moncur to win silverware for the club and helping Newcastle secure Champions League football for a second time in three seasons.

The 27-year-old will be back where he belongs next season, in Europe’s top competition. However, Guimaraes has made it clear that he expects new players this summer.

In an interview straight after Newcastle’s defeat to Everton on the final day of the season, Guimaraes called Newcastle’s squad “short” and said they will need more players if they want to be competitive next season.

Guimaraes dropped a subtle hint on his Newcastle future recently and has done the same in a new social media post reflecting on the season.

Bruno Guimaraes hints he is happy at Newcastle United

Last summer, fans were concerned that Guimaraes was going to leave Newcastle due to a £100m release clause in his contract. Thankfully, no clubs were able to make a good enough offer, and he stayed on this season.

His decision to stay has proved to be a great one, and Guimaraes will always be remembered for his heroic contributions on Tyneside.

Now, Guimaraes has further affirmed that he is happy to stay at the club past this summer in a new Instagram post.

“Well, I think this season was exactly everything I imagined before it started. I don’t think even the best screenwriter could have written a story as beautiful as ours.

“I’m very grateful to be part of this team. Thank you for all the support throughout the season, NUFC fans. 24/25 was magical, and we want more and more to make history for this club! Thank you for everything, and we’re counting on you for next season.”

Again, talk of “next season” is a great indication that he will be a Newcastle player next season, and Eddie Howe will have his dream midfield three again.

Whether Bruno Guimaraes was ever going to leave Newcastle United

Guimaraes will don the captain’s armband for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign and Champions League for the first time ever.

Qualification for Europe’s top competition not only keeps Guimaraes at the club, but it also gives Newcastle a much better chance of keeping players like Alexander Isak, who has interest from clubs throughout the Premier League this summer.

While Guimaraes is happy to stay now, his future on Tyneside looked bleak at one point last season.

Guimaraes was not likely to stay at Newcastle when European qualification looked slim towards the latter stages of last season. The Magpies had been knocked out of the FA Cup and sat 10th in the table.

Thankfully, Newcastle were able to finish seventh that season and just narrowly missed out on European football.
