Everton face an uphill battle to keep hold of Jarrad Branthwaite this summer.

The 22-year-old was a key member of David Moyes‘ side, featuring 30 times in the Premier League.

The Friedkin Group are set to back the Scotsman to improve his squad in the transfer window, but they could also sanction a big outgoing after years of financial hurt.

The likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Chelsea are all interested in the England star, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if offers start to come in.

Everton braced for Chelsea approach for Branthwaite

Branthwaite is a prime target for Chelsea, and he could be tempted to leave the Goodison Park outfit for Champions League football.

The Daily Mail has reported in its print edition (31 May, page 109) that the Stamford Bridge side are considering an approach for the Three Lions ace.

It states that Moyes is keen to keep his star man, especially with James Tarkowski recovering from surgery on his hamstring.

Branthwaite money could help Everton massively

Losing Branthwaite would be a huge blow for the Toffees, he has enjoyed a phenomenal rise to stardom in the past few years under Sean Dyche then Moyes.

The ideal situation would be that they keep their star defender and build around him but a sale cannot be ruled out.

However, if they can squeeze a huge amount out of Enzo Maresca’s side, it could help them in their plans to rebuild ahead of the move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Talents like Branthwaite are very hard to replace and there is no guarantee that the Blues could get the right man through the door if they allow a sale.

They have been linked with the likes of Nathan Zeze and Sinaly Diomande but they have no experience in the English game, so would be a gamble at best.

If they can reinvest the funds positively and strengthen several positions, it could be a beneficial move to allow the ex-Carlisle man to depart.

Moyes’ side needs reinforcements in every department. They have already wrapped up a deal for Carlos Alcaraz, but attackers and midfielders are also needed, so any extra funds would be welcome.
