Manchester City likely to make improved offer in ‘next few hours’ – Deal agreed with player

Manchester City haven’t found an agreement yet with AC Milan over a move for Tijjani Reijnders, according to multiple claims from Italy.

Calciomercato state the midfielder has reached a ‘basic agreement’ with Manchester City, who offered him a salary of €7m per year. They have to find an agreement with the Serie A club.

Milan have rejected Manchester City’s first offer of €55m plus €5m bonuses and won’t lower their request, which as per the report is €75m including bonuses.

The intermediaries involved in this operation are working to close the deal. Calciomercato state the relationship between the officials of the two clubs can help wrap up the 26-year-old’s transfer.

Saturday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport says there’s still no ‘white smoke’ for Reijnders’ sale to Manchester City because they haven’t met the minimum fee of €70m requested by Milan. This is €5m less than the figure quoted by Calciomercato.

The midfielder earns €3.5m and his salary will be doubled at the Etihad. Gazzetta state his father, who also represents him, has sorted out the details with Manchester City. They want him for the Club World Cup and are in a rush to close this operation.

Milan, on the other hand, aren’t in a hurry or have a need to raise funds to improve their finances. Therefore, they are refusing to offer a discount.

Over at Corriere dello Sport, they state Milan, on Friday, met with Reijnders’ entourage to discuss his future. They also point out The Premier League club’s initial offer of €60m with bonuses wasn’t accepted by Milan, who want more.

Corriere claim it’s ‘very likely that a new, richer offer will arrive in the next few hours’ and an agreement could be found for €70-75m with bonuses.

They state: ‘And the feeling, considering how Guardiola’s wishes are often fulfilled in one way or another, is that Reijnders will soon leave Milan to join City.’
