Manchester United consider offer for Amorim target–Could advance even if Fernandes stays

Over the last 48 hours, various claims from the UK and elsewhere have reported about Al-Hilal’s interest in Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes. These links intensified after his agent, Miguel Pinho, travelled to Saudi Arabia.

It’s unclear whether Fernandes will be tempted to accept a lucrative offer from Saudi. If he were to leave, the Red Devils could consider signing Sporting’s Pedro Gonçalves, also known as Pote.

That’s according to A Bola, and ‘Amorim eyeing Pote’ is written in bold on the frontpage of today’s newspaper.

He played as a left sided No.10 in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation for the Lions, managing 81 goals and 57 assists from 190 games under the current Manchester United manager’s orders.

Within the report, it’s explained the Premier League club are ‘considering making an offer’ for the 26-year-old. A Bola state the possibility will only increase if Fernandes is sold to Al-Hilal.

Manchester United can earn big from Fernandes’ sale and his exit also opens up a space in the squad. The newspaper states it’s possible for the Premier League club to present an offer even if Fernandes stays.

There’s no mention of the fee the English club plan to offer for Gonçalves. Sporting, for their part, insist he can only leave if his €80m release clause is activated.

Sporting want to renew his contract, but A Bola report Gonçalves wants to wait and see if there will be any movements in the market. It may be a ploy from Gonçalves’ camp to use the Fernandes saga and Manchester United to put pressure on Sporting for an improved contract.

Unfortunately for the player, it feels like his shot at a big move may have passed him by.
