Bayern Munich are plotting a move to sign Liverpool star Cody Gakpo as he could be allowed to leave Anfield in the summer transfer window.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Arne Slot is prepared to cash in on the 26-year-old.
Gakpo would also be interested in a move to Bayern if an offer arrives as he would be a key player in Vincent Kompany’s attack alongside Harry Kane and Michael Olise.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool will accept offers for Luis Diaz if they can find a replacement, and the same is believed to be the case for Gakpo.
Slot believes he can upgrade on his attacking options to play alongside Mohamed Salah and will be open to offers should they arrive in the window.
Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider that Liverpool are eyeing Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon and will make a move if their current forwards are moved on.

Bayern Munich plot Cody Gakpo move after Florian Wirtz news
Bayern Munich had targeted a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, before Football Insider revealed Liverpool are closing in on Wirtz’s signature.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Gakpo is now among their options to strengthen on the left-hand side of their attack.
“Bayern Munich are interested in Cody Gakpo,” he told Football Insider.
“They’re looking for somebody to play on the left of their attack and he’s one of their options.
“They’ve missed out on Wirtz, he looks like he’s going to Liverpool, and then that could open the door for Gakpo to go in the other direction.
“He’s done well since he’s been at Liverpool, but I think they’ll sell if they offer is right.
“Slot isn’t convinced about his attacking players and wants to improve in those positions.
“So they money from Gakpo’s sale could be used to bring in a new option.
“I think it’s a move that would work for him, going to Bayern Munich where the pace and intensity of the game is less than it is in the Premier League.
“I can definitely see that one happening.”
