Delap had £30 million release clause in his Ipswich contract. He was wanted by multiple clubs across whole Europe. United had him as a top target. But, they are beaten by Chelsea in the race. The Blues will soon announce him officially as their new striker.
Man United hold internal talks to discuss about new striker
According to Caught Offside, United are holding talks internally. The main point of discussion is new striker after being missed out on Delap. The report also adds that they have 6 strikers on their radar ahead of summer window.
Firstly, the Red Devils have all Mateta, Osimhen, Jonathan David and Kolo Muani on their radar. In addition, they have shown strong interest in Viktor Gyokeres. Lastly, they are also in race for young sensation Benjamin Sesko. Both Sesko and Gyokeres are top targets of Arsenal.
Gunners are ready to spend big on striker this summer. Hence, United will face heavy competition from them. As of now, both Sesko and Gyokeres can prefer to join Arsenal over United. Gunners will play in UCL whereas United will miss all European competitions next season.
Sesko will cost more than €70 million this summer. Leipzig are aware of his demand in the market. In addition, the player is very young and tied to them with contract until 2029. On the other hand, Gyokeres has €100 million release clause but can be sold for around €70 million.
