Everton are looking to add to their midfield this summer in what should be a huge transfer window for the club.
David Moyes has worked wonders with the squad he inherited but it is now time for him to bring his own players in.
It was certainly a quiet January window for the Toffees with Everton’s only arrival coming in the form of a loan.
Everton are set to seal Carlos Alcaraz’s signing permanently after their latest round of talks with Flamengo.
With attacking quality coming through the Argentine, it will be important for Angus Kinnear to find someone to play alongside Idrissa Gana Gueye.
It’s now being suggested Gueye is set to sign a new Everton contract, but more options will need to be signed this summer.
And one long-standing target is now set to hit the market.

Aston Villa want to sell long-term Everton target
Everton have held a long-standing interest in Leander Dendoncker and were keen to sign him last summer after years of speculation.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
The Belgian midfielder departed Villa Park on loan to join Anderlecht for the 2024/25 campaign.
According to the Daily Mail, Villa are now very keen to offload the 30-year-old this summer as they look to bring in some money.
Everton are keen to add a new midfielder this summer and Dendoncker could prove a cheap option with just 12 months remaining on his deal.
He is not the only midfielder who the Toffees have on their radar, though.
Moyes is keen to reunite with Tomas Soucek following their time together at West Ham.
There is no doubt Dendoncker would not be a signing that would excite many Everton fans, but he could prove a solid squad option to improve depth.
Dendoncker could add experience alongside Idrissa Gana Gueye
The Senegal midfielder played a huge role in Everton’s 2024/25 campaign having swept up the end-of-season awards.
Everton fans have hailed Gueye’s performances, but it would be a real concern if he was to go down through injury.
Considering Orel Mangala has now returned to Lyon following his loan stay, there is a real lack of experience in the holding midfield role – aside from Gueye.
Dendoncker has just spent the season out on loan with Anderlecht where he played 43 times with no major injury issues.
Former Wolves manager Bruno Lage praised Dendoncker as ‘brilliant’ and he could prove a smart addition for the Toffees.
“He’s brilliant, nothing phases him. He knows his task and he doesn’t feel the pressure,” he said.
