Paul Scholes has now aimed a new dig at Newcastle United supporters.
Despite the fact Newcastle United fans are coming off the most remarkable season in the club’s modern-day history, Scholes saw fit to take fresh aim at them.
Eddie Howe’s side made history this season. After a turbulent summer, they went on to win the Carabao Cup at Wembley to end a 70-year wait for a major domestic honour.
A few months later, Newcastle qualified for the Champions League. Indeed, Newcastle have ambitions to win more trophies too, and things are looking very positive heading into the summer transfer window.
Still, when speaking on The Overlap, Scholes agreed when a huge claim was made about Newcastle fans.

Paul Scholes says Newcastle United fans think the club is bigger than it really is
The Manchester United legend was speaking alongside Jamie Carragher in front of a selection of supporters from other clubs.
One of the questions sent into the show was: “Which club’s fanbase thinks they are bigger than they actually are?”
Carragher put that to the floor and, naturally, it sparked some debate. When one of the audience mentioned Newcastle, Scholes responded with: “good answer, yeah great answer”.

Paul Scholes was part of the celebration police after Newcastle’s Carabao Cup success
It’s not the first time Scholes has aimed something of a dig at Newcastle supporters this season.
Following the Carabao Cup victory, there were suggestions Howe could get a statue. Having been the manager to end the trophy drought all while leading the club back into the Champions League on two separate occasions, there’s little doubt the Newcastle United manager is a legend on Tyneside.
Still, Scholes downplayed Newcastle winning the Carabao Cup, suggesting it was a tournament the big teams tried to get knocked out of every year in order to ease their respective schedules.
Given Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are among the previous winners in recent history, that seemed harsh.
With that in mind, it’s perhaps unsurprising to hear Scholes take fresh aim at Newcastle fans.
