Paul Scholes has given his verdict on Manchester United potentially losing Bruno Fernandes this summer amid a mega-money offer from Saudi Arabia.
Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes is a top priority for Al-Hilal this summer.
There is no denying the importance of Fernandes at Old Trafford, and United fans would rightly fear the worst if they were to go into the 2025/26 season without him.
Many supporters would argue that it is thanks to the Portugal international that the appalling 2024/25 season was not even worse, although he did perform poorly, like many of his teammates, in the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
United finished 15th in the Premier League and will be without European football next season for the first time since the 2014/15 campaign.
However, Fernandes was named Manchester United’s player of the year for a fourth season, after registering 19 goals and 20 assists throughout the turbulent campaign.
Former United defender Rio Ferdinand also singled out Fernandes for being a one-man team due to his performances since moving to Old Trafford.
Reports also suggest that the United dressing room is ‘desperate’ for Fernandes to stay put.

Paul Scholes would accept £100m for Bruno Fernandes
The rumours aren’t going away and it is understood that Al-Hilal have set a deadline for Fernandes to make up his mind about a move to the Middle East.
On Thursday night, it emerged that Fernandes’ agent had agreed terms with Al-Hilal, which suggests a transfer could happen this summer.
United legend Paul Scholes has advised United to accept a £100m offer for Fernandes, suggesting the Portuguese star’s style of play could disrupt Ruben Amorim’s tactics as he “confuses the system”.
It seems a stretch to say that, given how reliant Amorim has been on Fernandes. That didn’t change Scholes’ tone on the latest episode of The Overlap Fan Debate.
“They are talking about £100m for him,” Scholes said. “Man United cannot say no to that.
“You know when you talk about this system as well, I know he has been brilliant and carried the team on his back but where does he play? What is his position? Do you see him as a number 10? Do you see him as a holding midfielder?
“He almost confuses the whole system because he doesn’t have that one position for him. I mean he has been brilliant don’t get me wrong. But when you’re getting £100m for him you snap their hand off and take it.”
Bruno Fernandes stats this season
Scholes should perhaps take a look at Fernandes’ stats for United this season.
Fernandes topped the charts for his goalscoring contributions, but it’s also worth noting how many games he plays each season.
