Fabrizio Romano has shared a new update on Newcastle United’s pursuit of Brentford’s winger Bryan Mbeumo.
The 25-year-old is coming off the back of a sensational Premier League season, scoring 20 goals and bagging seven assists in 38 appearances. His contributions have not gone unnoticed by Eddie Howe.
It is no secret that Newcastle United are seriously interested in Bryan Mbeumo this summer and have made him one of their top targets.
However, Newcastle are under pressure to get a deal for Mbeumo done quickly, with Paul Mitchell, a top negotiator, leaving the club at the end of June.
The summer transfer window is set to be a big one for Newcastle, with the PIF handing Howe and his recruitment team a hefty budget to bring in their top targets. While Newcastle are big contenders for Mbeumo this summer, they must fight off interest from Manchester United, who are also looking to sign the winger.
With Newcastle and Man United ready for a bidding war, Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on Mbeumo’s future and where he could end up next.

Bryan Mbeumo is still deciding his future amid Newcastle United links
On Friday, it was reported that Mbeumo was open to joining Newcastle after initial talks. The Cameroon international is also believed to be tempted by Newcastle’s offering after they secured Champions League football for next season.
Man United have also held talks with Mbeumo, with Ruben Amorim hoping he can still tempt the winger to join the Red Devils despite having no European football to offer.

Speaking in his Give Me Sport column, Romano commented on Mbeumo’s links to Newcastle and Man United.
“Manchester United and Newcastle United both like him but, from what I heard, it’s still an open story.” he said.
His words suggest Mbeumo has yet to decide his future, but it is looking more likely that he will be leaving Brentford this summer.
Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been very open and honest about his stance on selling Mbeumo, one of his star players.
The Dane recently admitted Brentford are a selling club and said that Mbeumo could leave if teams put a good enough offer in for him.

Frank is reluctant to sell Mbeumo, but ultimately realises that the winger is now ready to take the next step in his career after a sensational season with the Bees.
There is no doubt Mbeumo would also become Newcastle’s first-choice right-winger, ahead of Jacob Murphy. The 30-year-old has been brilliant for the Magpies this season, but there will be some concerned people within the club as to whether he can continue his good form in the next campaign.
