Manchester United are facing another potential blow in the transfer market this summer as Liverpool are eyeing a move to sign Atalanta star Ederson, GIVEMESPORT sources have been informed.
The Red Devils are keen to strengthen their midfield options this summer as Ruben Amorim looks to bounce back from a historically bad campaign, in which the club finished 15th in the Premier League and lost in the Europa League final.
Those performances have greatly affected the club's transfer budget for this summer, meaning that they are likely to need to sell players before being able to bring in significant reinforcements and that is opening the door for other clubs to steal a march on their targets.

Brazilian likely to cost around £50m
Ederson in action for Atalanta
Currently Man Utd are unsure of their exact budget for the summer window, but have already committed to spending £62.5m on Wolves star Matheus Cunha - with the player's release clause set to be paid in three installments and a medical due to be taken in the coming days.
Man Utd are also looking at signing a striker amid concerns over Rasmus Hojlund, but were dealt a major blow in their plans this week when top target Liam Delap instead opted to join Chelsea in a £30m deal.
Now fierce rivals and reigning Premier League champions Liverpool are looking to take advantage of the problems at Old Trafford by hijacking their interest in Atalanta star Ederson.

The Brazilian, who has been labelled "world-class", is expected to leave the Serie A club this summer and is valued at around £50m. But Man Utd are not yet in a position to bid for a player with such a value, and if they can at any point this summer it won't be until some sales go through.
Liverpool have already brought in Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen as their first signing of the summer, and are on the verge of a deal to sign Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez too.
Man Utd Want Midfield Signing
Striker is a priority though
Ruben Amorim
Ederson is considered to be someone the club have had their eye on for some time, and Amorim is keen to add a robust and athletic midfielder to the squad for next season.
However, currently the main priority for the squad is to add goals and all available money is going towards that.
Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony are all expected to leave permanently after loan spells away from the club last season, while Alejandro Garnacho is also likely to be sold which further adds to the need to add goals to the side.
GMS sources understand that Paris Saint-Germain star Randal Kolo-Muani and Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta are back on the club's radar for the striker position, although it remains to be seen if they can make a deal happen for either.
