Barcelona have been handed a huge boost in their bid to land Joan Garcia from Espanyol this summer.
The Catalan giants are eager to acquire the stopper in a deal worth €25 million, and it looks as though they may have convinced Garcia to make the move.
According to Foot Mercato, Garcia is now “expected to give his green light to FC Barcelona” and the club are “very optimistic that he will sign.”
Fabrizio Romano also agrees and reports: “The agreement between Barça and Joan García on long term deal is now very advanced, almost done.
“Negotiations underway with Spanish GK with club confident to get his green light in the upcoming days. Barça want to get it done asap.”
If he does indeed move to Barcelona it seems that Garcia will be the team’s No. 1 heading into the new season.
Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Hansi Flick and Deco see him as a starter, although they are unwilling to guarantee any player a starting spot.
All of which spells bad news for current first choice Marc-Andre ter Stegen, as it’s thought the Germany international will be put up for sale if Garcia does arrive.
