There’s no experience in the NFL quite like catching a game at Lambeau Field, but it’s still fun for a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan cheer on the Green and Gold in a less familiar environment. And, let’s face it, when the winter weather sets in, sometimes you need a brief reprieve from the arctic blast of the Wisconsin air.
The Packers aren’t involved in the international series this season, so none of the road games are more than a few hours drive or a fairly short flight away. If you’re planning a trip to see the Pack play an away game, which city should you visit? Here’s a handy travel guide to Green Bay’s 2025 road games.
Week 7: at Arizona Cardinals – Sunday, Oct. 19 (3:25 p.m.)
While this might not be the game with the most storylines, it sets up well for a fun one to build a weekend vacation around. While many of us in the Midwest love the crisp fall air, most of us get sick of the cold at some point.
This may be a bit too early in the season to have that feeling. Still, late October in Arizona is typically when it has cooled from the sweltering summer heat to more agreeable temperatures. It’s perfect for a weekend warm-up before the real cold hits.
Even if this isn’t a high-stakes game, it should be compelling. An opposing offensive cast of Kyler Murray, Marvin Harrison Jr., Trey McBride, and James Conner is as exciting as they come for a middling team, and Arizona appears to have improved this offseason.Still, the Packers should be favored going in, and I’d expect them to win, which is always fun.
Week 4: at Dallas Cowboys – Sunday, Sept. 28 (7:20 p.m.)
I always find the idea of spending a day or night at Jerry World intriguing. Add in the Sunday Night Football theatrics, and it takes it to a whole different level. Green Bay also has a great recent history of results in Dallas.
On top of that, the Dallas/Fort Worth area offers many things to do on the days leading up to the game. TheState Fair of Texas is the closest thing the US offers to the Minnesota State Fair, and it starts that Friday, September 26, in Dallas. Although you’d be leaving the Midwest when the weather may still be cooperating, the weather in Texas should be even better.
Week 11: at New York Giants – Sunday, Nov. 16 (noon)
While I don’t think it’s the best game, it’s the one I’d personally choose to go to because it’s tough to beat the New York City experience.
There’s an endless number of things to do. It’s a must to make it more than just a trip for the game. However, as we all know, it’s costly. Also, you are unlikely to escape the chilly Midwest November weather heading to the Northeast. On the other hand, you should get a fun game if you’re a Packers fan.
Week 15: at Denver Broncos – Sunday, Dec. 14 (3:25 p.m.)
Denver is awesome. It’s one of the more lively cities in the US. The Broncos are also expected to be very competitive, and this should be an awesome game.
However, December weather in Colorado can be very unpredictable. You could get beautiful, sunny, fall-like weather in the 40s to 50s, or you could get two feet of snow that delays your flight home. If this is the game you choose, make sure you have an eye on the weather and prepare accordingly.
Week 8: at Pittsburgh Steelers – Sunday, Oct. 26 (7:20 p.m.)
This game could have a different feel if it’s Aaron Rodgers quarterbacking the team. It would be one of the more fun storylines for a Packers road game.
If he signs in Pittsburgh, it’s the best singular reason to go see a game on Green Bay’s schedule this season. He hasn’t signed with the Steelers yet, though, so it’s a bit hard to rank this game.Regardless, Pittsburgh is a great city, and the Yinzers are a great fanbase.
Week 13: at Detroit Lions – Thursday, Nov. 27 (noon)
I am not a fan of my favorite team playing in holiday games. I prefer to be at home with family, watching stress-free football (outside of my fantasy players).
That being said, this game fell into Tier 1 of my most anticipated games of the season. It will be awesome, and given that they’ll play it on Thanksgiving, many people will have a long weekend, making the post-game travel easier to manage.
Week 18: at Minnesota Vikings, Jan. 3 or Jan. 4 (TBD)
Heading over to Minneapolis is an easy drive. Packers fans will be there, and this could be a huge, highly anticipated game.
However, it’s in January, and we all know how Minnesota weather can be that time of year. It’s likely a trip for just the game and not much else, though I encourage you to make it, considering what could be at stake.
If it’s a Saturday game, that makes things much easier. It also might allow you to find some things to do in the Twin Cities around the game, weather permitting.
On the bright side, the game will be played inside in a climate-controlled environment despite the Vikings’ push for the “Winter Warrior” identity.
Week 16: at Chicago Bears – Saturday, Dec. 20 (TBD)
This game is similar to the one in Minnesota. Many Packers fans will make the drive down to Chicago, and I encourage everyone to do so.
The difference between this game and the one in Minnesota is that it will be played outdoors, which can be very unpleasant in the Soldier Field stands. However, if you’re a fan of that experience, it may beone of the last you get in Chicago.
Week 3: at Cleveland Browns – Sunday, Sept. 21 (Noon)
Cleveland has its perks as a city, but there’s not much convincing me to travel there when the game falls on maybe one of the last weekends that we get here in the Midwest to spend out on the lake, at the cabin, on the golf course, in the sun.
However, if you want to go to a low-stress game that Green Bay should win, this is the game for you.
