“I’m completely relaxed” – West Ham star defiant, ready to “attack again next season”

West Ham United striker Niclas Füllkrug has insisted he is ready to attack next season, with a proper pre-season under his belt.

[Sky Sports Germany](https://sport.sky.de/fussball/artikel/will-angreifen-naechste-saison-fuellkrug-hat-keine-wechselwunsch-gedanken/13377305/34236) have an interview with the striker today from his press conference with the German national team ahead of the next international break.

He’s back in Julian Nagelsmann’s squad as they take on Portugal in the semi-finals of the Nations League next week.

That’s despite a disappointing campaign for him after joining West Ham last summer from Borussia Dortmund. He managed just 20 appearances in all competitions, totalling 877 minutes, as various injuries limited his impact on the pitch.

It’s been a frustrating year for him, particularly after he arrived at the London Stadium on the back of 16 goals and 10 assists in 46 games for Borussia Dortmund last season that helped them reach the Champions League final.

Most have assumed that he would be moved on this summer, with a big rebuild expected under Graham Potter in the transfer window.

Füllkrug has regularly insisted he won’t be moving on, though, and reiterated that stance when asked about it again.

“I’m completely relaxed about that,” he said.

“So, I’m not thinking about anything at the moment. It’s taken me the last month to get back to that final fitness, that match fitness.

“I was able to start three games, which is good. But after the injury, it took me a few weeks to finally… get back to match fitness, and now I feel good and am happy that I can attack again next season, obviously with a completely different foundation in the background.”
