Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers are still at a standstill. Despite all of the rumors and reports that have come out over the last few months, no deal has been agreed to.
During the 2025 NFL Draft, the Steelers opted to not address the quarterback situation early. They waited until the sixth round to draft Will Howard, which made many feel that Rodgers had given them a verbal commitment.
However, that does not seem to be the case.
According to a new report by NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Rodgers has "not affirmatively told the Steelers that he's coming."

That obviously is not the news that Pittsburgh fans would want to hear. But, that seems to be the reality of the situation right now.
Basically, the Steelers do not know what Rodgers is going to choose to do. They are continuing to wait with hope that he will choose to sign, but that hope could backfire. If Rodgers does not join Pittsburgh for the 2025 season, the team will need to scramble to figure out the quarterback situation.
Right now, there are two quarterback options on the roster. Mason Rudolph and Will Howard are the two potential signal callers that the Steelers could choose from.
Rudolph has a history as a starting quarterback in Pittsburgh. Mike Tomlin might be comfortable with him as the starter. Howard has major potential and is coming off of a college football national championship last season, proving his ability to win at a high level.
There is also a chance that the Steelers could pivot to another veteran option. They could consider pursuing a trade with the Atlanta Falcons for Kirk Cousins.

Of course, there is just as good of a chance that Rodgers does decided to sign. If he comes to Pittsburgh, the Steelers would instantly become a potential Super Bowl contender. But, they need to know what his plans are soon.
Rodgers is coming off of a 2024 season with the New York Jets that saw him throw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, while completing 63 percent of his pass attempts. Those numbers would be a major upgrade over what the team is currently working with.
Expect to hear more about Rodgers and Pittsburgh in the near future. For now, it sounds like the Steelers don't know one way or the other what the future Hall of Fame quarterback is going to do.
