This will make some of the game's achievements/trophies impossible to unlock.
On Monday, June 30, EA is shutting down Madden NFL 21. A wide variety of EA titles have shut down in 2025 already, with some titles becoming completely inaccessible and other games losing their online multiplayer functionality. Unfortunately for fans of EA-published games, some of the shutdowns this year have caused genuine heartache.
Perhaps the most devastating EA shut down in 2025 so far was when The Simpsons: Tapped Out shut down on January 24. The Simpsons: Tapped Out was a mobile city-builder featuring iconic characters and locations from the wildly successful Simpsons television shows. Dedicated fans of The Simpsons: Tapped Out spent years building their towns and made playing the game a part of their daily routine. Petitions were made in an attempt to save The Simpsons: Tapped Out from shutting down, but they were to no avail. Fan-run servers have resurrected the game to a certain extent, but the game is not currently available through any official channels.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out was one of the first EA games that shut down in 2025, but it certainly wasn't the last. The next game on the chopping block is Madden NFL 21, which will be shut down on Monday, June 30. Madden NFL 21 is the 2020 Madden NFL game, released to mixed reviews from fans and critics alike. It certainly wasn't the most popular Madden NFL game, but there may still be those that purchased it and enjoy playing it online. Unfortunately for those individuals, that will no longer be possible come June 30.

Specifically, players will no longer be able to earn Head-to-Head (win a Head to Head game in an online league) and Bragging Rights (win the Super Bowl in an online league). Needless to say, anyone that wants to earn 100% in the game should definitely make it a point to do so before Madden NFL 21's servers shut down on June 30.
Madden NFL 21 isn't the only Madden NFL series game EA is shutting down in 2025. Madden NFL 22 will be shut down on October 20, rendering all its online features inaccessible from that point forward as well.
