Brighton open bidding for player with €10m bid – Step ahead of PL competition

Brighton and Hove Albion have opened the bidding for Hellas Verona defender Diego Coppola with a €10m bid.

That’s [according to Hellas Live](https://www.hellaslive.it/news/hellas-verona-prima-offerta-del-brighton-per-coppola), who, according to their own information, reports that Brighton have opened the bidding for the centre-back.

Coppola is a potential target for several Premier League sides this summer, with reports throughout this week naming various sides as interested parties.

A report yesterday stated that Aston Villa, Brighton and Brentford were all keen and has asked for information on the defender. The belief was that bids of €10-15m would soon be on the way.

Well, Hellas Live now say Brighton have taken the first steps and made a first offer for the defender. The Seagulls are willing to pay around €10m for the 21-year-od.

Whether that’s enough to convince Verona into a sale remains to be seen, with them surely determined to get more for one of their key players.

Indeed, with at least three Premier League sides seemingly keen, they would presumably want a small auction to develop rather than selling at the first opportunity.

Brighton have opened the bidding nonetheless, although we’ll take the news with a pinch of salt for now given the source and the relative lack of information offered up.
