Newcastle United are showing an interest in Stade Rennais striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, according to journalist Christian Falk.
By beating Liverpool 2-1 in the 2024/25 Carabao Cup final, Newcastle secured their first piece of major English silverware in 70 years, meaning that the campaign would forever be remembered as a brilliant one by fans. In the Premier League, the Magpies only bettered their season by qualifying for the Champions League.
Newcastle will be playing in Europe’s most-prestigious competition for the second time in three years, a testament to the work that Eddie Howe has done since becoming the club’s manager. With the latest campaign now at a close, Newcastle can turn their full attention to the summer transfer window.
With Champions League football on the horizon once more, Newcastle are hoping to sign Alexander Isak to a new contract to secure his future, the Swede having been sensational since his arrival. It appears that the Magpies are keen to further bolster their attacking ranks.

Christian Falk has reported that Newcastle are one of multiple clubs to have an interest in Rennes forward Arnaud Kalimuendo. While the team finished 12th in Ligue 1, Kalimuendo enjoyed a brilliant season individually and has been called a "real killer" for his displays.

The Magpies, of course, already have the aforementioned Isak in their team and have entered talks with Callum Wilson over a new deal. Wilson, while a great forward, has faced struggles with fitness in recent seasons and in Kalimuendo, Newcastle would be signing a player 10 years Wilson’s junior who played consistently in the last campaign.
Though he is just 23 years old, Kalimuendo has played in over 150 Ligue 1 matches and is a French youth international. While other teams are keen on Kalimuendo, Newcastle may be the most convincing option, given they are a team in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
