Is Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks the best power forward in the league?
That’s a question that many NBA fans have asked, and now one of the most successful basketball stars in the world is weighing in.
Appearing on his show, Draymond Green talked about Antetokounmpo and gave his thoughts about him being the best NBA star in his position.
Believe it or not, he doesn’t think Antetokounmpo is the best power forward, but he has a good reason for that.
“I’m going to disagree,” Green said when Davis asked about the debate over Antetokounmpo. “Giannis has played in an era where it kind of became positionless basketball, and I don’t necessarily quite think Giannis is a power forward. In saying that, that’s why I disagree with that, because Giannis is one of the greatest players of this era. What made people start calling Giannis a power forward is because you had to start putting power forwards and centers on Giannis.”
So, Green is a huge fan of Antetokounmpo’s skills and thinks he’s one of the greatest players in the world, but he doesn’t consider him a traditional power forward.
Antetokounmpo came into the league at a time when positions were changing constantly.
The roles of players were very fluid, and it now isn’t uncommon to see someone have versatile skills in many ways.
A current NBA superstar can run the ball, make plays, assist, dunk, and block.
Ideally, they can do it all.
This is good news for teams, but it has made the concepts of positions a bit murky.
Therefore, Antetokounmpo is technically a power forward, but many people would argue that he doesn’t have any sort of official position.
Regardless of what people call him, one thing is certain: Antetokounmpo is definitely one of the best stars in the world, and he is a threat to his opponents, no matter what position he is playing.
