Manchester United may have been given a boost in their bid to sign attacking target Bryan Mbeumo, according to journalist Ben Jacobs - with the Brentford winger thought to be open to the 'right project' as opposed to immediate Champions League football, which could open the door to a move to Old Trafford.
Mbeumo will be one of the most sought-after targets in Europe this summer after an outstanding Premier League campaign with the Bees, scoring 20 goals and registering seven assists in the top-flight as the west London outfit finished 10th in the table, nine points away from securing European football and an outstanding 31 points ahead of relegation.

Brentford's stature and lack of financial power when it comes to wages could see Mbeumo depart for pastures new this summer, especially to a club playing in European football after his best-ever campaign in the capital marked numbers of a forward who should be playing Champions League football.

However, United are interested in the 'insane' star, and Jacobs revealed on The United Stand's YouTube channel that the Red Devils may still have a chance of signing him - especially with Mbeumo not entirely deciding his option based upon being able to join a club playing European football or not. He said:
"Mbeumo, I think, is actually more open to joining the right project, a bit like [Matheus] Cunha.
"I'm not aware that it's Champions League or nothing, and remember Manchester United's approach - which was one that I revealed about five days ago - was actually after the Europa League final loss to Spurs, not before.
"And as a consequence, Manchester United's intel appears to be that he'll go for a long-term project, a little bit older, more established, playing for a Premier League club that's not had European football.
"So I don't think it will be the be all or the end all for the player to join a project without European football this season."
Mbeumo has now spent four seasons in the Premier League, with his goal tally this season more than doubling any other campaign he's had at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Whilst Ruben Amorim is close to landing Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha, he must attract other attacking talents to turn their poor form around and Mbeumo would be an ideal addition to his squad.
